Film Photography

I love old, film photographs. Black and white and faded… usually covered in dust when you pull them from the box that had been lost for years in the attic. There always seems to be more history trapped in old photos – forgotten lives and stories… perhaps a bit of mystery. Blurry images giving us glimpses of years gone by…
These photos were not taken with a film camera, but I tried to achieve the correct image by transforming my model from modern woman into an innocent, romantic, old-fashioned and modest woman with a deep inner life. The photoshoot of this Russian girl, Elena, took place in England at Kew Botanical Gardens.  She was my “Turgenev woman”…
